Why Does Hair Get Frizzy?

What causes smooth hair to become a frizzy mess, worthy of Albert Einstein? Dr. Charlotte Grayson tackles a hairy question.

Hey, doc. Why does my hair frizz?”

Now that’s a hairy issue. But I think I have an answer for you.

The problem can start with damage to your hair, which may be caused by heat, coloring, or perms.

Another factor in the frizzies: Static, which can result from the environment or your shampoo.

Combine damaged strands with static, and what you get is frizzy, “fly away” hair.

Humidity can also play a role, as any woman who has endured hot, sticky days can attest to. When hair absorbs moisture from the air, it swells and if it’s already curly or wavy, the effect can be dramatic

As to how to control the problem, try a good conditioner. That should help keep those bad hair days to a minimum.
