Protect Your Joints to Prevent Arthritis Pain and Stiffness

If you have arthritis, there unfortunately arent any ways to make the condition go away. But there are things you can do to protect your joints and help prevent pain.

One of the most important is to shed extra pounds. Losing weight can take some of the stress off your knees and hips.

Also, practice good posture. By sitting and standing up straight, you can relieve pressure on your neck, back, hips, and knees.

When you have to bend over, do so from your kneesnot your waist.

Use ergonomic helpers such as wrist supports for typing, reachers to grab items from high shelves, and jar openers to twist off stubborn lids.

When your joints feel sore and stiff, dont try to push through the painyoull only make it worse. Stop and rest until the pain subsides.

Dont stay in any one position for too long. Get up every 10 to 15 minutes, move around, and stretch.

Finally, make physical activity a regular part of your routine.
