Milk for Spicy Foods

When your mouth is on fire from eating spicy foods, don’t drink water. Milk will help quell the pain better than water.

If your mouth is on fire from spicy foods, don’t drink water!

It can actually make the problem worse.

Instead, drink milk.

But make sure it’s dairy milk, which contains a protein called casein that binds to the heat-causing compound in spicy foods.

Other dairy products such as yogurt or ice cream may also help.

Full-fat dairy such as whole milk is most effective.
